NCR Loss Below Expectations

NCR Corporation’s (NYSE:NCR) first quarter loss per share of 10 cents exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate loss of 8 cents.

NCR reported revenue of $1.03 billion in the first quarter, an increase of 2.0% from $1.00 billion in the year-ago quarter. General Dynamics Tops Consensus

General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE:GD) in the first quarter of fiscal 2010 beat the Zacks Consensus earnings (EPS) estimate by 3 cents to reach $1.54, in line with the year-ago quarterly earnings. On a reported basis, including one-time items, earnings came in at $1.53 in the reported quarter, in line with results from the year-ago quarter.

Norfolk Southern Beats On Revs

Norfolk Southern Corp. (NYSE:NSC) reported a first quarter earnings of $257 million or 68 cents per share. Excluding a health-care related charge, earnings came in at 75 cents per share. The earnings were ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 67 cents. The results also compare favorably with the prior-year quarter earnings of $177 million, or 47 cents per share.

Meredith Outpaces Estimates

Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP), a leading media and marketing company, recently posted third-quarter 2010 results that exceeded the Zacks Estimate on the heels of improved advertising performance at its National and Local Media groups, increased readership and online traffic.

With Money Pouring Into The Canadian Oil Sector, Where Are The Energy Bears?

Money is flying into the junior Canadian oil sector.  Every morning I wake up and the first thing I do is check my blackberry to see if any financings in the oil and gas sector were announced in which I might want to participate.

Yesterday three companies I follow – Novus Energy (NVS.V), Wavefront Technology (WEE.V) and Southern Pacific (STP.V) – all announced $20 million financings.  Novus upped it to $25 million within hours.
