The Mediterranean island of Cyprus has been proposed as an ideal choice for those considering an investment in property overseas.
Investment International noted that buyers are increasingly being attracted to the country as reunification talks continue and travel and trade restrictions are relaxed.
According to the magazine, the north offers homes at up to 50 per cent cheaper than in the south, although buyers have benefited from increases of around 25 per cent in the last two years alone.
Further growth is expected as Cyprus is promoted internationally as an option for anyone seeking homes overseas, while golf courses and casinos may also contribute.
And the lifestyle benefits of moving there were emphasized by the news source, as it stated: "Cyprus is a paradise island of incomparable natural beauty, full of unique historical treasures."
Nearby Greece was recently highlighted as a popular retirement destination for Britons by Sofia Panayiotaki of the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

Let’s step back our perspective to take a look at the absolute performance of the main AMEX Sector SPDRs from the March 2009 lows to the end of August 2009. There is a shocking result!
We knew that the financials – which had suffered the worst through most of 2008 – would likely recover strongly during any market recovery, but it’s shocking to see that the XLF (XLF) (Financial ETF) has risen over 140% since the lows of March 2009!
You can see the performance of the other … [visit site to read more]

UK Telegraph – We have all become so used to reading that the end of the world is nigh that we tend to close our eyes and stick our fingers in our ears when there is evidence to the contrary. So you have probably missed one of the biggest pieces of good economic news to emerge recently: energy prices are coming down, in some cases to record lows. Furthermore, even if prices start to recover, they are not likely to return to the ridiculous levels of 2008 any day soon.
This is … [visit site to read more]

Tax Credits for a greener America are in fashion. In each case, we may as well admit up front that these type of programs amount to taking money from all taxpayers to fund pet environmental whimsy of the environmental crowd. The State of Florida, amongst others, had rebate programs to save the planet in place until it ran out of money. The solution? Use federal stimulus money to front it.
Astute investors and consumers will take advantage of these programs to a certain degree, hopefully … [visit site to read more]

It is my observation that a lot of our time working with the market is spent waiting for something to happen. One of the problems with playing options is that options will expire before the expected price move takes place. In other words, the market can prove you right, but not in the time allotted. Fortunately, we are not currently on a time schedule as we await the market’s next decisive move, but it is tedious nonetheless.
The primary issue now is whether prices are going to break up or … [visit site to read more]

How does an entity sell a massive amount of assets? Individual sales are too time consuming. Personal negotiations would be too onerous. How about utilizing the internet and engaging a wider audience? That is, in fact, exactly what is happening as America goes on sale via auctions. That’s right, folks.
From the state of California to small banks and all points in between, there are and will be ongoing liquidations via auctions for the foreseeable future.
How does one receive a list … [visit site to read more]

You are not alone if you feel a sense of increasing risk as the equity markets continue to elevate after a 50% plus run in 6 months. One can only imagine what kind of moon shot would have occurred if the fundamentals were really good as opposed to less bad.
Nonetheless, buyers of the iShares Barclays TIPS Bond Fund (TIP) are also sensing the risk of a rising equity market built on so much hope.

Up until recently, the wisdom of the elders didn’t seem to count for much in the business and financial worlds. What mattered more was how much energy, optimism, and aggressiveness someone could bring to the table. That’s not surprising, since many were convinced that crises and crunches were a thing of the past and had myriad incentives to shoot for the moon.
Now, of course, things are different,. People are suddenly paying attention to those with lots of experience and a knowledge … [visit site to read more]
